A MOTORIST was grabbed around the throat in a road-rage incident.

The 23-year-old man was driving his Mitsubishi GTO between the Sainsbury's and High Street roundabouts in Wallington Way, Fareham.

As the traffic slowed, a man approached the victim's car, reached through the window and grabbed him around the throat.

The attacker then got back into his vehicle and drove away, leaving the victim with scratches and bruising.

Police spokeswoman, Sgt Michelle Winstanley, said: "It is possible that this attack was sparked by some sort of driving dispute but there is never any justification for a physical assault.

Appeal "There was a lot of traffic in the area so I would appeal to any drivers who saw this take place to come forward.

"The victim was driving a black Mitsubishi GTO and we believe the man who attacked him was driving a gold-coloured Peugeot 306."

The victim described his attacker as a white man aged about 40.

It is believed that a woman and a child were also in the Peugeot 306.
