Now as part of the events to celebrate the Southern Daily Echo’s 125th Anniversary, we have teamed up with Royal Caribbean International to offer readers the chance to go on board and enjoy a sumptuous lunch on Southampton-based Independence of the Seas.
Independence is not only one of the largest cruise ships afloat, but she is one of the most beautiful and has recently returned to Southampton after a re-fit costing millions of dollars. Exciting new additions include a giant outdoor cinema screen, new baby and toddler nursery, and even a Cupcake Cupboard offering cake decorating classes a host of sweet treats, Packed with exciting adventures, from the on-board ice rink to the dramatic Flo-Rider surfing attraction, the ship has welcomed tens of thousands of guests son board since she was first based in the city over five years ago.
The ship is celebrating an anniversary of its own this year. 2013 is the fifth successful summer season of Independence of the Seas being based in Southampton. Continuing to receive rave reviews from UK holidaymakers, earlier this year Independence of the Seas was honoured at the 2013 Cruise Critic UK Cruisers’ Choice Awards where it took home top spot in the best food, entertainment, families, fitness and service categories.
From rock climbing and ice skating to Broadway style shows and fine dining restaurants, Independence of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean International’s most activity packed ships and the Southern Daily Echo will be giving ten lucky couples the chance to get up close and personal on Saturday 15 June for a day visit and lunch in the ship’s restaurant.
