WE’VE all fancied running away to the circus but now you really can learn the tricks of the trade in Southampton.
Aerial Silks classes involve using fabric to wrap, suspend, fall, swing and spiral your body into and out of beautiful and physically demanding positions.
Working with silks is a creative and graceful full-body workout, with an emphasis on the upper body and core where even your fingers will feel worked.
Aerial Silks classes are suited for all ability levels.
Students will start by learning the basic climbs and poses, going on to develop to more advanced and physically demanding movements. The dance style is a great way to experience inspirational circus skills, whilst getting an excellent workout.
The classes are taught by two professional aerialists, Frankie and Tori.
Frankie began her aerial career training in aerial rope at Circus Space and Gravity Aerial Academy in London. She then furthered her skills by training in Silks. Tori began her career as a professional Contemporary Dancer, training at the University of Winchester and going on to perform in London and Portugal.
Subsequently, Tori went on to train in Aerial Silks and is working as a freelance instructor and performer. Aerial Silk classes are held at The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex in Southampton, on Tuesday evenings for adults and children. 1-2-1 sessions and birthday and hen parties are also offered.
They use of a mobile professional aerial rig and are able to hold displays and workshop in any venue/space.
