POLICE have appealed for help in tracing a driver who stopped at the scene of a fatal crash in Southampton.
Motorcyclist Stephen Dawson suffered serious injuries after his Kawasaki bike collided with a Vauxhall car on Shirley Road.
The 55-year-old, from Waterhouse Lane, was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he later died.
The Astra driver, a 27-year-old Southampton man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been bailed until September 24 pending further inquiries.
Sergeant Richard Grant from the Totton roads policing unit said: “I would like to speak to the driver of a silver-coloured VW Golf that pulled across Shirley Road on to the forecourt of the Odra supermarket moments prior to the collision.”
Mr Dawson worked as an oil quality tester at Fawley refinery. His death has devastated wife Teresa, 52, who is battling cancer, and children Aaron, 31, and Charlene, 28.
Mr Dawson’s funeral will be at Southampton Crematorium on June 14 at 11.45am.
Contact Sgt Grant, quoting Operation Tollbar, on 101.
