TV and radio gardening expert Pippa Greenwood will be guest of honour when resident of a Hampshire village open their homes to the public tomorrow.
The former Gardeners’ World presenter is taking part in Sway Open Gardens, which has raised about £50,000 for charity since it was first held in 1997.
This year the event is being held in aid of Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington.
Plant lovers will be able to view more than 20 gardens, some of which have not opened to the public for many years.
Pippa, who lives near Petersfield, will launch the event as well as giving three 45-minute talks that will include a question-and-answer session.
One of the organisers said: “The gardens are all different, ranging from manicured formal settings to small but beautifully formed cottage gardens.
“Many of the gardens are within walking distance of the village centre. Free parking is available and you can even ‘get on your bike’ as cycles can be hired for very reasonable rates.
“Tea and cakes and savoury snacks will be available all day at Sway Church Rooms.
“We also have St Luke’s Singers and the group Ocean Harmony, who will offer musical interludes.”
The Sway Open Gardens event runs from 11am to 5pm. Tickets are £5 if bought in advance and £6 on the day.
