A MAN head-butted a fence and swore at police while they were attempting to arrest him, magistrates heard.

Southampton Magistrates’ Court heard how Billy Connis, 22, had been at a barbecue and had drunk seven bottles of beer on the night of May 6.

Police were called to the address on Inkerman Road at around 10pm.

He was arrested and while he was being led away to a waiting van continued to swear and also head-butted a garden fence.

Connis, of Spring Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to criminal damage, using threatening words or behaviour and also failing to attend court when he missed a previous hearing in connection with the case.

Connis was fined £180, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
