THE death of an elderly man was not connected to a fall he had in hospital just 24 hours before he died, an inquest heard.
Cecil Terry had been in Southampton General Hospital for three months due to pneumonia and various other conditions relating to the illness.
The day before he died, March 11, the 91-year-old, of Coleville Road, Southampton, fell out of his hospital bed but Southampton Coroner's Court heard that this was unconnected to his death.
A post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was pneumonia and coroner Keith Wiseman recorded a verdict of death due to natural causes.
Mr Wiseman said: “There was simply not a significant indicator that the fall, or any injury from it, significantly contributed to death.”
