AN ex-serviceman will walk through Southampton city centre today in memory of the British soldiers who have lost their lives in Afghanistan.
Ben Greer will carry 100 kilogrammes on his back in his bid to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Ben, from Norfolk, completed six tours of duty in Afghanistan serving as a Chinook helicopter crewman.
During those tours he had to provide civilian and military casualty evacuation from the front line.
His walk in Southampton is one of 100 of 4.4-mile walks in different locations, a total of 444 miles - the same number of British service personnel killed in the Afghanistan conflict.
The weight he is carrying symbolises the weight of a British serviceman.
Ben will walk from the Bargate to London Road and back down to the High Street, taking a detour along East Street.
