A HOUSE was left badly damaged tonight after a fire broke out in its roof.
Around 60 firefighters battled the blaze in a three story property in Salterns Lane, Bursledon, after being called out at 4.45pm.
Crews used six pump jets, two hose reels and a compressed foam jet along with two sets of breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze. The fire is now out.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said none of the residents were at home at the time, but they have now all been accounted for.
The roof of the terraced house has collapsed and the first two storeys have been damaged by fire and smoke.
A neighbouring home also had part of its roof area damaged by fire.
A spokesman said: “We will be investigating the fire at a later date.” The fire involved crews from Hightown, Hamble, Redbridge, St Mary's, Eastleigh and Fareham stations.
