POLICE are hunting a driver who failed to stop after his car collided with a pushchair carrying two young children.
A woman aged in her 30s was pushing the three-year-old and four-year-old along but had stopped on a grass verge next to a car boot sale exit as a car turned out of the field.
The vehicle, an older looking beige four-door saloon, collided with the front of the pushchair, ruining the contraption beyond repair.
The driver did not stop and miraculously the two youngsters were not hurt in the drama, which unfolded off Titchfield Road in Fareham on Sunday at 11.15am.
The driver was described as being aged in his 60s - with a woman of a similar age travelling in the front passenger seat.
Investigating officer PC Douglas Westerman said: “Police are asking for the male driver of a beige car involved in a collision with a pushchair at the exit to the Titchfield Road Car boot sale to come forward. He failed to stop at the time.
“We are also appealing for any witnesses to the collision, particularly a driver who was directly behind the car in the queue to leave the boot sale.
“This motorist spoke with the woman saying that he would try to get the registration of the beige car as it was driven away in the direction of the Titchfield gyratory.”
Both motorists or anyone with information are asked to contact Park Gate Police Station on 101 or Crimesoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
