A BUILDING on the University of Southampton’s Highfield campus is being renamed today in honour of an African charity.

Building 19 in Cobham Terrace will be renamed the Cameroon Catalyst Building in honour of the Southampton-based charity Cameroon Catalyst.

The organisation is a group of engineering and French students who design and fundraise for the development of the village of Bambouti in western Cameroon.

It is run in partnership with the Mosame Trust and its members are building an electricity hub in the village.

The naming will include presentations from former student and charity co-founder Claire Gott and Patrick Mballa, founder of the Mosame Trust.

The Cameroon high commissioner is also set to attend the presentation, which starts at 4pm.
