HE can usually be found tying defenders up in knots on the football field.
But ex-Saints star Nathan Dyer swapped the pitch for getting hitched when he said “I do” to his Hampshire fiancée.
The former St Mary’s winger, 25, was surrounded by friends and family as he walked Laura Watts, 26, down the aisle at a ceremony in St John’s Church in Locks Heath.
The newlyweds then enjoyed a glamorous vintage flower-themed reception at The Elvetham Hotel at Hartley Wintney complete with 120 guests.
The footballer, who now plies his trade for Saints’ Premier League rivals Swansea City and scored against Saints at St Mary’s last season, met Laura on a night out in Southampton five years ago.
They have lived in Wales together for the last two years with Laura, a former Gregg School student from Whiteley, working as a make-up artist.
Her mum Elaine Watts said: “Laura looked stunning, absolutely amazing in a Mark Lesley Couture Duchesse Satin dress with a vintage Nottingham lace bodice and veil designed by Niki Hill of Botley. Nathan looked equally dapper in his Grey Oswald Boateng suit.
“The wedding has just rounded off what has been a very special year for them both.”
Sporting guests included Nathan’s Swansea City team-mates Ashley Williams and Luke Moore as well as Liverpool’s Joe Allen, David Manasseh and Cyrille Regis.
It caps an incredible year for the Saints Academy graduate, who signed permanently for Swansea in 2009.
Earlier this year he was named man-of-the-match in his side’s 5- 0 League Cup final demolition of Bradford City at Wembley Stadium.
The couple have organised a two week honeymoon taking in Disney World and Jamaica.
