A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in mud on Hayling Island last night.
The man and two friends became stuck close to Langstone Road Bridge shortly before 7.30pm.
Twenty-two firefighters from Havant and Fareham fire stations deployed the brigade's Landrover, multirole vehicle and water rescue unit before dragging him free while his two companions escaped unaided.
It is the third mud rescue in ten days and follows firefighters freeing an elderly couple from mud in Beaulieu near Bishop's Dyke on Sunday, June 2, before rescuing a pensioner from land near Yewtree Road Hayling Island on the same day.
