IT IS A glamorous charity golf event, featuring football stars of the past and present competing in the glitz of Las Vegas.
And a Hampshire firm has been named the official clothing sponsor for the first-ever Westwood Cup.
Golf clothing firm Sub70 will be one of the partners at the two-day golf event, which is taking place today and tomorrow at the Shadow Creek Resort.
The tournament will see English footballers and former pros line up against their European counterparts in the heat of the Nevada Desert to raise money for various charities.
The English team will feature former Saints strikers Kevin Davies and Kevin Phillips, former internationals Teddy Sheringham, Darren Anderton and Andrew Cole and current England players Phil Jagielka, James Milner and Adam Johnson.
Their continental rivals will feature such legends as Ronald de Boer, Peter Schmeichel, Andriy Shevchenko and Dwight Yorke.
Sub70, which makes a wide variety of golf gear, was set up in 2004 and is based in Bishops Wood Road, Fareham.
The company’s operations director, Simon Elliott, said: We are delighted to be involved in such a prestigious event.
“The Westwood Cup is supporting some great charities and we are proud to be part of it.
“We design our clothing using the highest performance materials and it is great to have such high quality athletes performing in our gear.”
The Westwood Cup will see the two teams square off in a Ryder Cup-esque showdown, with proceeds from the event going to Opportunity Village, Faith’s Foundation and Players Charity Pool.
