Traffic being diverted off the M3 this afternoon
A BUSY Hampshire motorway was shut in both directions today after a four-vehicle pile-up.
A lorry, car, van and motorway maintenance vehicle were in collision on the M3 northbound between junction 13 at Chandler's Ford and junction 12 at Eastleigh at 3.10pm.
One man has severe head injuries while two others are injured. Police closed the southbound carriageway so the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance could land.
That reopened shortly before 4.40pm, but the northbound carriageway remains closed.
Motorists can expect severe delays as traffic is diverted from the area.
