COMMUNITY groups could have greater powers to buy buildings and landmarks in Southampton.
Plans to introduce a community transfer asset strategy were due to be decided on by the city council Cabinet today.
The plans would allow the authority to sell or transfer the management of council-owned land or buildings to community groups for less than market value.
If groups wanted to buy buildings such as community centres, they would be able to put together a bid which they could submit to the council.
Council bosses would then be able to decide whether to accept the bid or not.
