WINCHESTER residents face traffic delays from tomorrow due to engineering works.
Southern Electric (SSE) will be carrying out urgent repairs to cables in Bar End Road over the next few days.
A spokesman for the company said the cable had been damaged, although engineers could not identify a cause.
Works were due to start today but were delayed due to problems positioning the temporary signals near a pedestrian crossing.
The spokesman added: “The temporary lights impinge on the pelican crossing so our contractor met the council and highways authority to agree how to proceed and the pelican crossing lights will be turned off while the temporary lights are in place to avoid safety risks.”
The works begin tomorrow and will take place between 9am to 4pm each day. They should be completed by Saturday.
