YEAR 10 pupils at Bitterne Park Secondary School got a very special visit by Southampton-born Olympic rowing bronze medallist James Foad.
The rower was part of the men’s eight in the 2012 Olympic Games that achieved a bronze. Now the 26-year-old wants to inspire the next generation of successful athletes.
As part of that, James took pupils through his achievements at the Olympic Games and took a question-and-answer session with pupils.
He also went head-to-head on a rowing machine with students, who were impressed by his skills.
Deputy head teacher of Bitterne Park School, Pan Panayoitou, said: “Having an elite athlete like James visit us, and listening to how he had trained, was amazing for the pupils to listen to. It was a big hit with all of them.”
