GRAB a slice of freedom with Southampton Choral Society when they perform a world premiere choral cantata tomorrow night.

The Freedom concert, which celebrates the anniversary of the abolition of slavery 80 years ago, will take place at King’s Community Church in Hedge End under the direction of Peter Gambie.

The specially composed piece tells the stories of three slaves from the actual Court trials in England around 1833, creating a graphic representation of life in those times.

Southampton Choral Society will be accompanied by an instrumental trio, and joined by professional baritone soloist Joseph Padfield, an up and coming opera star.

Various choirs in the Southampton area will be taking part, including Wyvern Community Choir,Wyvern Technology College Choir, Southampton Gospel Choir, Chessel Chanters and Highfield Church Choir.
