SKY Rides?

Not cycling with Santa’s reindeer but fun bike rides sponsored by SKY.

And it’s not just a day in July when the city centre is closed to cars.

Each weekend throughout the summer, British Cycling trained leaders will take you on a recreational cycle ride suited to your age and ability, the idea being to get active on a bike, discover new routes and places, have fun and meet new folk.

First things first.

You may have a bike but it’s been outside or in your shed for a while.

So get it to your local bike shop for its annual overhaul or down to Dr Bike in the Guildhall Square on Thursdays 11-2pm or Saturdays at The Ropewalk Garden, St Mary’s to ensure you have a trouble free ride.

Perhaps you’ve not been on a bike for a while either.

So take a personal refresher lesson with an instructor, funded by Southampton City Council if you live, work or study in Southampton or Eastleigh.

Now you are set to go so it’s time to choose a ride and book it online at goskyride.com/southampton And that’s free too!

All we ask is that you turn up on the day or let us know early on so someone else can have your place if you change your mind.

Rides start at different locations around Southampton and are broken down into Easy, Steady or Challenging.

An Easy may be three miles at a slow place away from cars, while a Steady will take you up to 12 miles and involve suburban roads too.
