POLICE are hunting a man who racially abused a bus driver in Southampton.

The man used abusive words towards the driver during the incident last Tuesday.

Just before 9am, the driver was blocked in by a bus in Burgoyne Road in Thornhill. He got out of the car, punched the bus's doors and shouted for the 35-yearold driver to move the bus, before directing racist insults at him.

Police officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward and help identify the van driver.

He is described as a stocky white man, aged from 25 to 35 and about 6ft 1ins. He had short, light brown spiky hair and wore a blue jumper.

PC Mark Brown said: “This was a particularly unpleasant incident, involving unnecessary racial abuse. At the time of the incident, there were people on the bus and in other vehicles which were queuing in traffic.”
