KING Alfred gazes down on a very 21st century activity.
The end of National Cycle Week saw a series of spectacular stunts performed in front of the king’s famous statue in Winchester city centre.
A hive of pedal-based activity in Broadway included roller-racing, a mountain bike display and a cycle treasure hunt.
It was all part of CycleFest, a joint venture between Winchester City Council, British Cycling, Cycle Tours UK, Hampshire County Council and Winchester BID.
Similar activities will take place in August as part of the build up to the Winchester Criterium cycle race.
