IT’S a service that could one day save the lives of any one of us.
That’s why two motorcyclists are doing their part to keep air ambulances flying high to help those critically injured.
Philip Summerfield and his friend Jon Porter are currently on a motorcycle mission around the country to raise money for the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS).
As part of their mammoth ride they will be visiting Southampton General Hospital’s helipad this afternoon.
Philip said: “We want to raise awareness for the fantastic work that air ambulances do and the need for hospital helipads.
“With an average of around 45 per cent of air ambulance call-outs being to road traffic accidents, this places us all in need of the service.”
