BEAUTIFUL buildings across Hampshire are being celebrated this summer.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is inviting everyone to celebrate the buildings they love – and perhaps fall for some new places – with their Love Architecture Festival.

There will be a tour of the new buildings at the University of Winchester at 10am on June 29.

Four lectures are being held at the Discovery Centre in Winchester.

Speakers include Mary Duggan and Joe Morris, who founded their practice in 2004 and have since been shortlisted for the Young Architect of the Year Award and the Architect of the Year Award.

Also giving a lecture will be Patrick Theis and Soraya Khan, whose building, Bateman’s Row in Shoreditch, was shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2010.

Winchester firms of architects, including ADAM Architecture, Design Engine and Architecture PLB will also be holding ‘open practice’ evenings, when you can visit their offices and see some of what they are working on.

There will also be a tour of the former Ministry of Defence fire station, since converted into the first building in the new eco-town of Bordon.
