FIREFIGHTERS WERE this afternoon dealing with an incident at a high rise block of flats in Southampton.
Units from across the city were called to the fire at Telephone House in Briton Road in the city centre just before 1pm.
The alarm was raised by a resident after the automatic fire alarm was triggered by smoke coming from a neighbouring property.
The first floor was evacuated while firefighters entered the building and broke into the flat where they found smoke coming from a pot of food that had been left on the cooker.
Fans were used to clear the floor of smoke logging but no significant damage had been caused by the fire itself.
