All four were jailed at Winchester Crown Court this afternoon.

He was bound and gagged, beaten with fists, bottles and knives and locked in a wardrobe.

On Good Friday the gang sold his laptop and split the profits before returning to the squat and murdering Jamie who was stabbed a number of time and then fatally in the neck.

His body was put in a wheelie bin and dragged to Empress Road where it was torched with petrol only to be found by firefighters in the early hours of Easter Sunday.

Following the sentencing Nicholls, 31, Woodmansey, 32, Dwyer-Skeats, 27 and Chalk, 22, were all led away by prison officers to begin their sentences.

The family gave their reaction following the sentencing.

A statement read: A statement from the family read: “We are very pleased with today’s sentences handed out by the Judge who saw through all four of the defendants attempts to lessen their part in what happened to Jamie.

“Some people favour the death penalty, we would rather they had a long time to rot in jail where they can contemplate what they have done.
“We hope they will eventually realise the full horror of what they did to Jamie and show some real remorse

“Today’s sentences also means they will be off the streets for a very long time so they can’t do anything like this again.
“This is important because we don’t want any other family to have to go through the same sort of ordeal as we have had to go through.

“Nothing can ever bring Jamie back but at least today we have finally got justice for him.”

Detectives from Hampshire police also spoke of their satisfaction at today's sentences.

Detective Sgt Bryan Carter said: “We welcome today’s sentences handed out by the judge to Nicholls, Dwyer-Skeats, Chalk and Woodmansy.

“Today sentences reflect the callous torture and cruelty the four of them inflicted on Jamie before murdering him and disposing of his body in a bin, which they then set alight to.

“We hope that today’s life sentences and minimum jail terms indicated by the judge will give some comfort to Jamie’s family that justice has been done and that it will be a very long time before any of them are likely to be released.”
