“IT has given us our lives back.”
Those are the words of Mary and Fred Baker, who have been given a new mobility scooter after theirs was stolen by thieves outside their Southampton home.
Help My Mobility came to the rescue of the elderly couple, donating the new scooter after seeing the story about the theft in the Daily Echo earlier this month.
After the theft, the couple, of Orpen Road, Sholing, who have just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, were left stranded in their flat, unable to get out and about on their own.
But now thanks to the generosity of Help My Mobility, they have their independence back and their new scooter can be dismantled, allowing them to store it safely inside their home, instead of outside their block of flats.
Mary, 87, said: “We are over the moon. It’s given us our lives back because we can now go down the road to the shops without problems.
“The scooter is absolutely brilliant and it was so generous of Help My Mobility, we cannot thank them enough.”
