POWER has been restored to more than 500 homes and businesses in Southampton city centre this evening after a major black out.
Shops and households were thrown into chaos when electricity supplies cut out shortly after 2.10pm after an underground cable fault.
Sothern Electric Power Distribution engineers rerouted the supplies from the damaged cable under Regent Street before restoring power by 4pm.
A company spokesman apologised for the inconvenience and said teams will be fully fixing the damaged section before the weekend.
