A TRIBUTE to the work and sacrifice of the armed forces as to be held in Netley today.
The event, to mark Armed Forces Day, will also be a chance to recognise those who fought for their country with the presentation of longawaited medals.
A parade will start from the Station Road Recreation Ground going to the Royal British Legion Club at 6.30pm.
When it reaches there, a salute will be taken by Major General Jamie Balfour, accompanied by Eastleigh MP Mike Thornton, the Mayor of Eastleigh, and others.
The parade will be led by the pipes and drums of the Hamble Pipe Band.
A presentation will then award Fred Dymond the Arctic star, and the Veterans’ Medal to George Atkins, of RAF Bomber Command.
The ceremony will conclude with a lowering of the standards of the four services and will be followed by an evening reception for those involved at the RBL functions room.
