MARWELL Wildlife visitors are the first to benefit from new South Downs National Park funding.
A direct bus service has been set up between Marwell and Eastleigh Railway Station as part of a national park project to encourage people to use cars less.
Lisa Mayer, South Downs sustainable transport officer, said: “The Marwell bus service, running from Eastleigh train station every day during the school holidays will make visiting this part of the park without a car safer and easier.”
SDNP has given a grant of £8,000 over two years towards the cost of the bus service.
Marwell attracts more than 500,000 visitors per year but the nearest regular bus stop is 20 minutes’ walk away.
