A TEENAGER left with a fractured skull after being attacked during a late-night robbery in Winchester has undergone brain surgery.

The 19-year-old was robbed as he walked home from a night out last Saturday. Two men approached him and demanded money. When the youngster refused they started hitting him. They took his mobile phone and left him to make his way home with serious head injuries.

Detectives investigating the incident say the victim is in a serious but stable condition at Southampton General Hospital, and they have again appealed for any witnesses to the attack to come forward.

In particular, officers want to speak to a couple seen arguing in Edgar Road at around the time of the assault, shortly before midnight on November 25, who they believe may have seen the attackers prior to or just after the incident.
