A SOUTHAMPTON man has appeared in court more than four years after a shooting drama outside a city pub.
Jacob Smith faced an allegation of attempted murder following extradition proceedings which brought him back from Antigua.
The 24-year-old faced six charges at Winchester Crown Court.
It is alleged that he attempted to murder Daniel Hawkins and inflicted grievous bodily harm on him with intent.
He is further accused of possessing an adapted weapon, possessing blank ammunition, possessing a shotgun loaded with blank ammunition and possessing a firearm without a certificate.
Smith, of Derby Road, Southampton, only spoke to confirm his identity at the start of the five-minute hearing.
The indictment was not put to him and he did not offer a plea to any of the charges.
Defence barrister Blondelle Thompson made no application for bail and Judge Guy Boney QC further remanded him in custody until August 27.
With a trial scheduled to last eight days, the judge fixed the hearing for November 18.
Mr Hawkins was blasted in the arm in the daylight shooting outside the Obelisk Hotel in Obelisk Road, Woolston, on April 5, 2009.
The Daily Echo reported at the time that the injured man was taken to hospital and would have to undergo further treatment after debris from the weapon lodged in his arm and could not be removed.
Trained firearms experts found the weapon discarded in a car park near the scene.
