GET the sunblock out as, after an on-off summer so far, this weekend looks set to be a scorcher.
Met Office experts are predicting a mini heatwave will hit the south, and Hampshire could see its hottest day of the year yet on Sunday.
It is good news for organisers of events such as the Thai Festival in Mayflower Park, Southampton, the Eastleigh Mela, Winchester Hat Fair, Hedge End carnival and Warsash Festival, due to take place this weekend.
Temperatures will be hottest in the south-east with the mercury potentially hitting 30C (86F) in some areas like London, Kent and Sussex with Hampshire not far behind. Temperatures will rise during the next few days with predictions of 25C (77F) for Sunday, topping the highest temperature recorded so far this year at Lee-on-the-Solent a couple of weeks ago of 23.2C (74F).
A Met Office spokeswoman said: βIt should be very pleasant and summery β you could be looking your hottest day of the year in that area. You could call it a mini heatwave.β
Forecasters are not sure how long it will last, but it should continue until at least Monday.
