A CELEBRITY chef has pledged to address concerns over his new Hampshire restaurant.
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, who runs River Cottage, visited the site of his new venture in Winchester today.
The company has agreed a deal to turn former city council office Abbey Mill into a 180-seat eatery, with planning permission granted last month.
But neighbours in Colebrook Street oppose the plans, arguing it is an unsuitable location which would cause noise and traffic problems.
Speaking before an appearance at a Winchester tourism conference, Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall said he wanted to work with residents to solve any issues.
He said: “I'm not surprised there are concerns and if I lived close to a new restaurant opening I would be concerned. We want to talk to residents and minimise any anxiety. When the time comes to open we will continue that dialogue to see if there are particular issues that come out of that.”
