TINY but mighty festival Blissfields will be making its welcome return to Hampshire this weekend.
The 2,500 capacity event is this year being headlined by Mystery Jets and band of the moment, Bastille.
The DOT, Marika Hackman, Theme Park, Bondax are also on the bill. The festival first started in 2001 by Paul and Mel Bliss with just 70 people attending.
The handmade stage and hired sound system made it the perfect party in the garden.
However, due to its incredible talent of introducing the next big thing, Blissfields has grown every year in attendance and has been named Best Small Festival.
Super Furry Animals, Mumford and Sons, Frank Turner, Jake Bugg, Laura Marling and Ben Howard have all appeared on the stage.
The festival has a fancy dress theme every year with previous years seeing ‘Out of this World’ and ‘Decades’. This year’s ‘Directors Cut’ theme will see plenty of popcorn, red carpets and movies with a film festival also taking place at the music extravaganza as well as movie inspired games.
Billed as the festival where it doesn’t rain, people from all walks of life visit the Winchester hot spot. There’s a big focus on families – kids only loos, craft classes and activities such as circus skills and dance classes, there is always something for little ones to do and enjoy. The event is completely sold out.
