AN AFTERNOON of fun and food takes place in Southampton today to celebrated the 50th anniversary of a charity for the needy.
St Mary’s Church in St Mary’s Street will host the Basics Bank big barbecue from 1pm.
As well as a barbecue, there will be three bouncy castles, arts and crafts, face-painting, a coconut shy and an appearance from Peppa Pig.
There will also be ice cream to help everyone cool down, and a display by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The charity gives out food parcels to families suffering hardship.
