Sea shanties, beach art and sailing will all form part of a nine-day celebration of the Isle of Wight later this year.
The Festival of the Sea will be officially launched at an event this morning.
The event will take place from September 14 to 22, and feature a programme of events celebrating the island’s maritime history, heritage and holiday appeal.
Among the programme will be cookery displays, food tasting, opportunities to charter boats, sailing lessons, kite festivals and talks. The festival will also feature major events such as the Red Funnel Cowes Food Show, The Sea Shanty at the Spyglass Inn Ventnor, a beach arts festival and a new fishing festival.
