THE world premier of Still Current kicks off the autumn season at The Point in Eastleigh.
Choreographed by the acclaimed Russell Maliphant, he provides a new evening of solos, duets and a trio.
The new production combines a unique mix of dance, text and song and takes place on September 26 and 27.
Dance lovers will be able to witness a great treat from two of the best choreographers in dance on November 14.
Joss Arnitt will be exploring the dark side of femininity in a dark and dramatic piece, and Freddie Opoku-Addaie will present solo piece, Show of Hands. The surreal and humorous set is based on the sculptures by Friedel Buecking and Christine Kowal Post.
Shakespeare fans will be delighted at the Transport retelling of the classic As You Like It. The story of star-crossed lovers Rosalind and Orlando will be performed on November 13.
Laughs aplenty will come from the comic genius of Mark Thomas who will be making a very welcome return to The Point on October 25. He will be causing creative mayhem with the subversive, funny and sometimes inspiring quest to commit 100 Acts of Minor Dissent in the space of one year.
Lee Hurst will also be making the crowd laugh with a brand new stand-up show. Things That Make You Go Aaarggh!!!
will be focusing on the audience and what winds them up.
The Point Youth Theatre have a busy season ahead of them. They’ll be celebrating their 18th birthday in style on September 28 with Eighteen.
The talented performers will showcase all of their shows since the theatre group started. They’ll also be taking audiences to a frozen Denmark from December 19 to 24 as they tell the heart wrenching story of The Little Match Girl.
The classic Hans Christian Andersen story is full of twists and turns and is laced with charm and magic.
Young fans can also embrace the magic of theatre on October 19 with Travelling Light and Bristol Old Vic’s presentation of BOING! Set on Christmas Eve, BOING! is an energetic and enchanting piece of dance theatre, which captures the delirious excitement of waiting for Santa on the most magical night of the year.
Live music will come in the form of Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers (October 6). The most successful touring taiko drum group on this continent, their spellbinding display of sheer athleticism will have The Point filled with thundering rhythms and infectious laughter.
Local first time writers will be seeing their words become real with The Point’s Page to Stage Double Bill on November 15 and 16.
The Point’s Associate Artists Two Destination Language will also present three succulent shows on October 30 in FLINTnight.
Brighton-based Probe tells the story of a man, a woman and their repeated collision over time on October 4 in Running on Empty and unites the most primal impulses, fear and pleasure.
Milk Presents creates a world of old-school gadgetry, original live music and bicycle power, to tell the story of a saint. The legend of St George is laid bare on a cadaver tray in A Real Man’s Guide to Sainthood on October 10.
Stay Brave Brian Gravy from December 5 to 7 is an alternative Christmas tale where festive cheer is replaced with a manhole full of imagination.
