THIEVES got away with 900 litres of diesel from a roadworks site in Romsey.

Police say the theft at Winchester Hill where work is being carried out to install traffic lights at the junction of Cupernham Lane, happened between 5pm last Friday night and the following morning.

Three 25 litre drums were found on the ground nearby.

The stolen fuel was siphoned from a large container at the site.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Louise Allen at Romsey Police Station on 101.
