RESIDENTS in Chandler’s Ford are being warned to be on their guard against rogue traders reportedly operating in the area.
They are said to be offering to tarmac driveways. Hampshire Trading Standards said the traders tell residents they are in the area working on a burst pipe, and have £3,000 worth of tarmac to offload before it becomes cold and unusable.
But this has been found to be untrue and residents are warned to be cautious if approached by these traders.
Trading Standards advises people not to agree to work that starts out from a cold call or a leaflet drop.
It said consumers should obtain at least three written quotes from reputable businesses or traders who are either members of the Hampshire County Council Trading Standards Buy With Confidence Scheme or a recognised trade association Members of the Buy With Confidence scheme are fully audited to ensure their trading practices are legal and fair. All have been checked for trustworthiness and compliance with consumer protection laws.
