CIVIC chiefs in Alresford are making slow progress towards finally agreeing the scheme for two rugby pitches at Arlebury Park.
A meeting was due to be held on Monday with finance providers including Sport England and the Rugby Football Union.
Cllr Roy Gentry said at the moment there was no definite commitment for £123,000, the bulk of the money needed for the scheme.
Chairman Lisa Griffiths told the meeting that the RFU had told her it was agreeing to give the grant.
Cllr Gentry said at the moment there was a “Catch 22, chicken and egg”
situation over funding which he hoped would be solved soon.
Although the need to have started work by the end of June has been lifted, there is pressure to get started soon to appoint a project manager and agree the terms and conditions with the contractor.
