A FORMER mayoress is the new president of the Inner Wheel Club of Romsey Test.
Mrs Christine Burgess has stepped into the shoes of Elaine Grainger who was president for two years.
Her husband John is a well-known figure in the town and held office as Romsey’s mayor twice.
This is the first time Christine has been president of the Inner Wheel and on being elected she named her charities as Romsey Family Support Group, and Wessex Cancer Trust’s Jane Scarth House in Romsey where she has been a volunteer for 15 years.
Her year in office got off to a good start at Romsey Mayor’s Picnic with the Inner Wheel raising more than £200 selling baguettes and sandwiches.
