TEENAGER Jasmin Booth shunned other forms of transport and went to her school prom on horseback.

While other students from Redbridge Community School opted to arrive in cars and lorries, the 16-year-old rode up on a Welsh D owned by one of her friends, Tyler Allen, of Eastleigh.

Jasmin, of Millbrook, said: “I don’t really like other types of transport – they’re too boring.”

A large number of people gathered outside Chilworth Manor Hotel to watch the seemingly endless procession of vehicles make their way down the drive.

They included a huge tractor unit from a juggernaut and a black and white police car that used to cruise the streets of Los Angeles.

Owned by R & R Elite, of Shaftesbury, Dorset, the eye-catching vehicle had blue and red flashing lights on the top and the LAPD motto, To Protect And To Serve, on the side.

It was driven by Shane Ings of Netley Abbey, who said: “The car gets a fantastic reception wherever it goes. Everyone wants to take a photograph.”

One group of students were driven to the hotel in a stretch limo with Perfect In Pink written on the side and two others arrived on a pony and trap.
