Winchester MP Steve Brine has been named Road Safety Parliamentarian of the Month by road safety charity Brake for his campaigning over pedestrian crossings.
Mr Brine began a campaign in the city for a crossing on Andover Road outside Osborne School in early 2012 after pupils and staff raised concerns.
The traffic-light controlled puffin crossing was recently installed.
He has also successfully pressed for crossings on St Cross Road and recently launched a new one on Worthy Road.
Mr Brine said: “As a keen cyclist and parent of two little ones I am constantly aware of the importance of road safety and am delighted that my work in this area has been recognised by Brake.”
