The Olympic torch has made a return visit to Hampshire as part of the Community Games Relay.
Mirroring the original route it took during the 2012 London Games, it was honouring two young women who have helped bring the Olympic spirit to life in their local communities.
Kelly Phipp, 24, was selected as one of the county’s Shining Lights for her volunteer work for the YMCA, with the torch visiting George Williams House, Cranbury Place, in Southampton as part of Day 58.
Her work came after she recovered from a stroke she suffered during a brain tumour while pregnant. But she went on to become a doting mum and valued part of the YMCA team.
On Sunday the torch visited the Royal Southampton Yacht Club to honour Daisy Brookman for her many volunteering roles These include managing the Street Reach scheme in Winchester which supports young people at risk of homelessness, unemployment and criminal activity.
She also helped set up the Activity Buddy Scheme three years ago to train volunteers to support disabled people access sports and leisure activities. Daisy was also a torch bearer during last year’s Olympic torch relay.
