A SOUTHAMPTON pub is hosting a family event to raise thousands for charity.
The Anchor in Redbridge will have live bands, a barbecue, a bouncy castle, face painting and its traditional tug of war between noon and 6pm on August 3.
But it is calling out for more local bands to come forward and perform in order to make the event a success.
It will be the first big event the pub has hosted since its new landlord and landlady Juliann Graham and Mark Smith took over at the end of 2012.
Juliann and Mark hope the event will help raise more than £2,000.
The money will be split between the Cedar School in Nursling, to help it buy new equipment, and the Motor Neurone Disease Association Southampton and Winchester, which supports people with the disease that attacks the motor neurones or nerves in the brain and spinal cord.
For more information, including details on how to perform, call the pub on 023 8086 0456.
