A second dental crisis to hit Hampshire in just a week can be exposed today.

As many as 100 dentists in the south of the county have quit the NHS in just six months, new figures have revealed.

Now there are calls for Hampshire health chiefs to act to stop patients missing out or waiting longer for treatment.

The rise in the number of dentists to quit the NHS comes after the government introduced controversial new contracts for health service work earlier this year.

Dentists say that assurances by ministers that they would earn up to £80,000 have failed and they have turned to the more lucrative private sector.

Last week the Daily Echo revealed that parents in Hampshire were being forced to pay thousands of pounds for dental work for their children that was previously free on the NHS.
