A MAN has been arrested after a woman claimed she had been sexually assaulted in a Hampshire park.

The 25-year-old woman told officers that she had been attacked while doing sit-ups on a bench at Lakeside Country Park in Eastleigh on Tuesday morning between 10am and 10.30am.

She claimed that the man had attempted to strangle her by holding her in a headlock and has also alleged a sexual assault.

Police yesterday arrested a 44-year-old Eastleigh man near the Swan Centre.
