Controversial plans to put fluoride into the water of 200,000 Hampshire people could be sunk without trace, the Daily Echo can reveal today.
Council chiefs in Southampton and Hampshire believe a contract blunder means the scheme agreed by health bosses in 2009 is no longer valid.
If the Government confirms its suspicions, the five-year battle against fluoridation will be over.
The news has been welcome today by anti-fluoride campaigners.
