EVEN tropical animals need helping keeping cool in the heatwave.
As temperatures remain high, the lemurs at Marwell Wildlife near Winchester were given ice-cream as they cool off in the shade.
The ice-cream was given to the zoo by Hambledon-based doggy treat company Billy+Margot.
John Pullen, curator of Mammals at Marwell Zoo, explains: “Ice treats wouldn’t normally be included in the diet of these primates but due to the extraordinary hot weather we are using them as an enrichment treat today.”
Among the other animals cooling off in the hot weather was the zoo’s new tiger Kushka who has been enjoying her pool.
